Midsommar är en högtid som firas kring sommarsolståndet. Ursprunget till midsommar är förkristet, men kyrkan har valt att fira Johannes Döparens födelse vid samma tidpunkt. Idag firas midsommar i Sverige med dans kring midsommarstången och inte sällan med sill och färskpotatis på matbordet.
Midsummer is a holiday which is celebrated around the summer solstice. The origins of Midsummer is pre-Christian, but the Church chose to celebrate John the Baptist's birth at the same time. Today we celebrate Midsummer in Sweden with dancing around the pole, and often with herring and potatoes on the dinner table.
